The Asus Eee is a subnotebook which comes pre-installed with a customised Linux operating system (Xandros). Although the interface has been simply designed to appeal to first time PC users, the full Linux desktop can be enabled with a few simple changes
The screen is 7" wide with a resolution of 800x400 and appears a little small at first as it doesnt fill the entire space of the lid, leaving space at either side for the two speakers.

Asus Eee with 10" screen
After weeks of rumours about an Asus Eee with a 10" screen, German Asus spokesman Holger Schmidt said that an 8GB Eee PC with a 10-inch screen would ship in 2008. There's no mention of price at the moment, but a larger screen and double the disk space is going to push up the price a fair bit :(
Meanwhile other sources claim an 8GB model will be released in the first quarter of next year, but it'll keep the tiddly 7" screen :( - I guess we'll just have to wait and find out!
Unfortunately it's also rumoured that it may be preinstalled with Windows - lets hope its just a rumour.
