Sony has previously dominated the console market and they are hoping that the Playstation 3 will continue the trend. The PlayStation 3 contains some serious processing power with its Cell processor amd a top notch Nvidea graphics chip.

It contains a Blue-ray player with gigabit ethernet making it much more than just a games console. Its got some competition on its hands from the cheaper Xbox 360 and the Wii, but its much higher spec may just give it the lead in the long term.
